Founded in 1889 in the Baths of Diocletian with the aim of collecting the antiques of Rome, the Museum houses one of the world's most remarkable collections. With the acquisition in time of numerous collections the Museum required new premises. In fact, at present, it is distributed in various sites within the city where the archeological documentation is subdivided by topic,and by sites of origin, excavation and collection.
